Puchi Puchi

This is the package I got at work today from an old friend. It took me a while, but I eventually figured out that it's a keychain that mimics the sound and feel of popping bubble wrap. What intrigued me and threw me off the most was the picture of the people crying with laughter while using it. I almost expected something lewd, but now that I know what it is, I can't help but giggle like the people on the package everytime I press the button. It certainly isn't half as fun as popping bubble wrap, but it's better than nothing! I imagine it's also less annoying for the people sitting around me. As an added bonus, after every 100 pops, there's a surprise sound - a door chime, a dog bark, a fart, even!

After all these years, someone remembers how much I love bubble wrap and took the time to buy some and send them my way. I already can't stop popping away at work. Thankfully I have two to play with. Reeeee!!! It's a completely retarded product, yet I love it so!!

Thoughts From the Road

*Don't worry, I'm writing this after the fact.*

More Ovaltine, please.
I don't know if it's that I've never noticed it before, but today I looked at the Bay as I was passing it on the 101 and realized that the water is quite brown. In fact, it looked like a giant vat of Ovaltine.

It's raining, it's pouring...
Seeing all the on/off-ramps to the 92 and 84 made me think...with the overhead ramps just slightly slanted, how crazy would it be if they were to flood and create waterfalls onto the 101? I realize you'd need quite the apocalyptic downpour for that to actually happen, but wouldn't that be quite the sight? I suppose with the swarming locusts, no one would notice.

Indie Pop

Tonight I went to my first concert up here, and rather enjoyed it. Probably helps that I don't think I lost much hearing despite it being such a small venue. I love live music, but there's always that risk of possibly going deaf. Foo Fighters? Quite possibly worth it. Bad Religion? Not so much.

Despite being familiar with Greg Laswell's last album and having heard a few Ingrid Michaelson songs before, I wasn't extremely excited about the concert. I think the rumors of Greg Laswell once dating my favorite Mandy Moore might have something to do with it, but at the time I first started listening to him, I found the album too depressing (albeit beautiful) to listen to in one sitting. Listening to tracks sprinkled here and there on my iPod while on an airplane wasn't too bad, although we all know how my tolerance goes down with increased altitude. Quick aside: Maybe depressing music works on airplanes because it keeps you subdued. I did feel rather antsy listening to Hairspray on my flight to Frankfurt because I had this incredible urge to dance up and down the aisles and sing. In any case, hearing Laswell and Michaelson perform live was quite the treat. For two artists with quite the library of depressing songs, they're pretty random and hilarious individuals. I guess you've just got to laugh through the day and sing through the pain. But where does that leave left-brainers? Mathematical formulas can only express so much.

Click Clickity Click

Anyone who knew me in elementary school should know that I wanted to work at Sea World and work with dolphins every day. Anyone who knows me now (and if you don't, why are you reading this?) probably knows that this would never happen because I don't do well in water. But I'll be damned if the following clip doesn't make you want to jump in and get to know these creatures:

I'm With Stupid

Today, the moron on the road was me. It all started when I decided to leave work early and offer Stella a ride home. Traffic wasn't too bad and I managed to make good time from Palo Alto. Exiting the 80E at 4th St, I proceeded to get on Bryant and go towards Stella's office, just a few blocks away. But as my luck would have it, as soon as I told Stella to meet me downstairs, I somehow managed to make a wrong turn and got back on the 80E. For those of you that aren't familiar, the 4th St exit is the last SF exit, which means that as soon as I got on the freeway, I yelled FUCK. This little mistake meant that I had to go all the way across the Bay Bridge and back. In rush hour. Bloody fuck indeed. I finally made it back home an entire hour and $4 later. Nevermind all the times I nearly got into an accident because of unfamiliar lane merges.

I'm not sure whether the lesson here is to never assume you're getting the hang of downtown SF and not consult a map, or if it's that I should never volunteer to save Stella from the MUNI crazies. Either way, I'm the moron that accidentally got on the Bay Bridge. On the bright side.....oh, who am I kidding, there is no bright side.

My Pal in the Corner

Meet Jim. We met earlier tonight and just connected. He wasn't too tall, bulky, or scrawny like the others I met. Seems like he has a good personality, too. I was told he's not high maintenance, which is a definite plus since I just don't have the time or patience. Jim seems a bit shy - aside from the glass of water he asked for, he pretty much keeps to himself. I guess that's ok since we're just getting to know one another. Hopefully this relationship lasts a while and maybe one day I'll tell my parents. For now, we'll just see how things work out.
